Is Shawn Rhoden’s Mr. Olympia ban going to be lifted?
If you aren’t familiar with the case, let me fill you in quickly. 2018 Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden was charged with first degree rape by a female bodybuilder. The incident took place on October 12th, 2018 in Shawn’s hotel room. Shortly after the news broke, we got word the Shawn Rhoden had been banned from competing at the 2019 Mr. Olympia. This essentially opened the door for a host of other bodybuilders to take the crown away from Rhoden.
Then, Rhoden surrendered to authorities, and quickly posted bail. He immediately denied any wrongdoing on his part. Since then, more news has started to come out about the case. And, we have gotten several social media updates of Rhoden training. It appears that he believes that he will be allowed to compete at the 2019 Mr. Olympia.
One of the first pieces of evidence that we received in support of Rhoden’s innocence was the result of a lie detector test. And not just one, but apparently two. Shawn Rhoden passed both tests. Then we got word that Rhoden had been cooperating with Utah authorities for a long time. This is just speciation, but if you were guilty of a crime like this, would you be cooperating with authorities, or would you plead the 5th and make it as difficult as possible for them to collect evidence against you?
Then there is this fact. The woman that is accusing Shawn Rhoden was with a companion during the incident. She left the companion in the lobby of the hotel while she alone went to Rhoden’s room. Why would a married woman go to a man’s hotel room alone? If I was her husband, I would have a problem with my wife going to another man’s hotel room alone.
Shawn Rhoden is not denying that he met the woman in his hotel room. He also isn’t denying that they had sex. Rhoden claims that he has several text messages from the woman before the alleged incident that will prove that he is innocent. However, sources close to the woman claim that there are no text messages between the two.
And then there is the case of Rhoden’s DNA that was collected on the woman. Well, Rhoden claims that they used a condom, and that is why there was no DNA found inside of the woman’s vagina. This is pure speculation, but would a male have time enough to put on a condom if he was going to rape a woman?
As more details about the case continue to emerge, things are starting to look very confusing. What we do know is that Shawn Rhoden is extremely confident of his innocence. In fact, he is so confident that he is still training as if he will be allowed to compete in the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition. So, will Shawn Rhoden be allowed to compete this year? We don’t know for sure, but if he does, we might have one of the strongest lineups ever for the Mr. Olympia competition.
