Judging by Roelly Winklaar face, it appears that the gentle giant is in great condition.
We were able to get our first glimpse at the competitors for the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition yesterday. While the press conference is the first time that we see all the athletes together, it is also the time where we start to try and predict who has the best shot at winning the Mr. Olympia competition.
Most of the guys stay covered up until prejudging on Friday. That was the case with one of the top contenders for the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition. Roelly Winklaar was basically in a full body sweat suit during the press conference. He apparently didn’t want anyone to know what he looks like. Well, the one thing that he couldn’t hide was his face.
Yep, his face looked like death. And because his face looked like death, that is probably a good indication that he is in some great shape.
Olympia 2019 is here and full kicked off yesterday with the official press conference and meet the Olympians event. This was our first time seeing many of the athletes up close and personal just one day before they step out on stage. While there are many front runners for the Men’s Open competition – there’s one sentiment that was repeated over and over again all day Thursday. Roelly Winklaar has an extreme death face on.
Of course, up until the pre-judging Roelly is going to keep his physique covered up – but if his face is any indication, we might not only see the biggest Roelly of his career but his most conditioned. This could be a perfect storm that earns him an edge to win the Mr. Olympia this year. We’ll get a better idea during the pre-judging tonight and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.
For those not in the know, a death face is a shorthand term for when a competitor’s face looks so depleted and dry that it almost resembles a skeleton or the face of the dead. It’s a sign usually that the athlete will come in with some incredible conditioning And Roelly’s death face was quite extreme as he appeared in Vegas yesterday.
While we don’t know for sure how he will look, it appears that he is in better conditioning than at the 2019 Arnold Classic earlier in the year. If he has the size, and comes in with the best conditioning of his career, he will be a major contender for the 2019 Mr. Olympia crown.
