Is Shawn Rhoden’s Bodybuilding Career Over?

Even though he isn’t competing in the 2019 Mr. Olympia, Shawn Rhoden has been training for months like he is.

Shawn Rhoden shocked the bodybuilding world last year by defeating Phil Heath. At the time, Phil Heath was going for a record tying eights Mr. Olympia tittle. Heath was trying to join the likes of Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney as the only two men to ever win eight Mr. Olympia titles. Then we got word that Phil Heath was injured, and was going to be taking a year off to heal and repair his body. We automatically thought that Shawn Rhoden was going to repeat and win the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition.

If you have been keeping up with bodybuilding for any amount of time, then you know that for you to beat a reigning Mr. Olympia champion, then you have to not just beat them, but you have to knock them out. Most people thought that, and still believer, that Phil Heath is the only man that can knock out Shawn Rhoden. That is why most people picked Rhoden to win it all again this year.

But then, Rhoden got accused of rape by a female bodybuilder, and was banned by the company promoting the Mr. Olympia competition, AMI, from competing in 2019. It appears that most people are starting to side with Rhoden on the issue, but you know that AMI and the IFBB aren’t going to let anyone, especially one of the top contenders, compete with the possibility of winning the contest, and then having a cloud hanging over their head. It would only bring more negativity to the sport.

So, when we started seeing that Shawn Rhoden was still training as if he was competing for the 2019 Mr. Olympia, we immediately thought that he might know something that we don’t. Well, it turns out that Rhoden is still banned from competing, and that he his training because he wants the world to know that he believes that he is innocent, and that he can still win the Mr. Olympia crown.

So, is Shawn Rhoden’s bodybuilding career over? Even if his name is cleared, and he is allowed to compete next year, he still won’t be the favorite to win the 2020 Mr. Olympia crown. He will have to compete against this year’s winner, and will have to most likely deal with a healthy Phil Heath. And most people still believe to this day that Shawn Rhoden didn’t win the 2018 Mr. Olympia. Nope, they believe that Phil Heath lost it.
